How often should I clean my wool rug?

The scaled fibers hide and trap dirt, so your rug can appear cleaner than it actually is. Because of this, people often wait until they look dirty to be cleaned. By the time it looks dirty it can be damaged with an unbelievable amount of abrasive dirt.
The process happens gradually. Rugs will appear dull and lifeless. Proper washing removes dirt and restores the shine that natural wool has. Most rugs should be washed every one to three years depending on traffic, the quality of the rug and if it was properly vacuumed.
